Biography
Teddy, a career musician, songwriter and composer, moved to San Juan Island in 2000 from Portland, Oregon where he lead a seven piece Swing Band for seventeen years, www.swinglinecubs.com , as well as simultaneously playing in a ‘20s-‘30s style music duo, www.jasstwo.com, for ten of those years. Before that he was many years on the road with national and international touring bands including Quill, Martin Mull, The Holy Modal Rounders www.holymodalrounders.com, and The Clamtones www.jeffreyfrederick.com . He earned a B.Mus.Ed. from University of Mass at Lowell before going the professional route.
As a band member, he’s played on double bills with everyone from the Allman Bros. to Glen Miller to Bonnie Raitt to Frank Zappa to Charlie Daniels to Alice Cooper. Currently he mostly performs his own songs solo as a singer/songwriter but still plays locally with island musicians/groups, with the Play-Rite Boys, www.islandsmusic.com and back in Portland with the Freak Mountain Ramblers www.freakmountain.com.
As a theatre composer/lyricist, musical director and producer he has two full musicals, an opera, and several children’s shows, (including two children’s musicals produced in 2010 and 2011 on San Juan Island) to his credit. The lion’s share of his theatre work was done in Portland at Storefront Theatre.
As a professional musician-composer he has performed on/released over 30 full length commercial recordings and over 150 of his compositions and/or advertising jingles have been professionally produced on theatre stages, radio and TV.
